The Constitution of India








 is the supreme law of the country and was adopted on November 26, 1949,

 and came into effect on January 26, 1950. It is the longest written constitution in the world, consisting of a Preamble, 448 Articles, and 12 Schedules.

The Indian Constitution now has 448 articles in 25 parts, 12 schedules, and 104 amendments; in 1949, it only had 395 articles in 22 parts



____The Preamble of the Constitution of India declares India to be a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic that is committed to securing justice, equality, and liberty for all its citizens.



The Constitution of India provides for a federal system of government, with powers divided between the central government and the state governments.

 The central government is divided into three branches_____________

 the executive, the legislature, and the judiciary. The executive branch is headed by the President, who is the ceremonial head of state, and the Prime Minister, who is the head of the government.

 The legislature consists of two houses

 the Rajya Sabha (Council of States) and the Lok Sabha (House of the People).

 The judiciary is an independent body that interprets and enforces the laws of the land.




____The Constitution of India guarantees fundamental rights to all citizens, such as the right to equality, freedom of speech and expression, freedom of religion,

 and the right to life and personal liberty. It also provides for the protection of minority rights,

 and for affirmative action programs to help uplift socially and economically disadvantaged groups, 

____such as the Dalits (formerly known as untouchables) and the Scheduled Tribes


In addition to the fundamental rights, the Constitution of India also provides for the directive principles of state policy, 

_____which are guidelines for the government to pursue policies that promote social 

and economic justice, and improve the standard of living of its citizens.

The Constitution of India has been amended several times since its adoption, with the most recent amendment being in 2019.

 Amendments can be made by a two-thirds majority vote in both houses of Parliament, 

or by a constitutional convention called for that purpose.
